PLEASE NOTE:As we are currently renovating and expanding the Murdoch James winery, cellar door and Bloom restaurant, the Winemaker's cottage will not be available for the summer period of December-February 2011-12. Beautifully renovated in 2003, The Winemakers Cottage offers self-contained Martinborough vineyard accommodation for up to 6 guests – two queen-sized bedrooms, one bathroom with shower, a fully equipped kitchen and a comfortable lounge. Gaze at wide views of the mountains, river and valley as you wander through the vineyard or relax in the cottage courtyard with a glass of Murdoch James Estate wine.
Stroll to the Cellar Door or enjoy lunch at Bloom Restaurant
Just a short stroll from our vineyard accommodation is the winery and Cellar Door where you can taste a wide range of world class wines in the company of the winemaker, owner or one of the winery team.
Next to the Cellar Door is the superb Bloom Restaurant - serving local produce in spectacular surroundings - brunch or lunch here is a must. Reserve a table on the sunny deck and sip a glass of superb Martinborough wine.
Perfect honeymoon or wedding guest accommodation
If you choose to have your wedding at Murdoch James Estate, you may like to stay onsite the night before your big day or stay for your honeymoon night - or the cottage makes perfect accommodation for wedding guests who have travelled from far away.
Martinborough village only ten minutes away
If you’re looking for somewhere to go out for dinner, Martinborough village is just ten minutes away and has excellent cafes and restaurants.
You will also find a range of boutique shops and the Visitor Centre has great options for local sightseeing – for example: take the drive to Lake Ferry and scenic coastal road to Cape Palliser - on the way back, stop for a meal at the Lake Ferry Hotel which always offers locally caught seafood.
